The Ministry of the Interior and Local Communities (Ministère de l'Intérieur et des Collectivités Locales / وزارة الداخلية والجماعات المحلية) is the Algerian government ministry responsible for:
- Oversight of the 58 wilayas and their walis (governors)
- Territorial administration and local governance
- Civil registration (birth, marriage, death records)
- Electoral administration
- Migration and residency
Relevance to Blida
The Ministry is the administrative parent of Wilaya de Blida (Wilaya 09). The wali (governor) of Blida is appointed by presidential decree and reports to this ministry. All official administrative acts of the wilaya — decrees, territorial changes, commune mergers — are validated through this channel.
For researchers: civil status archives (état civil) for Blida, including colonial-era records transferred post-1962, fall under the administrative remit of this ministry.
