Mustapha Tchaker was born on 10 March 1936 to Ahmed and Boufredi Nafissa, growing up in the Akba Al Hamra neighborhood of Blida within a family described as "well-off but conservative, firmly rooted in Islamic principles."
Early Life
From a young age, Mustapha was active in his community, participating in the Blida Islamic Sports Union. He received a traditional upbringing that instilled in him both faith and a sense of civic responsibility.
Joining the Revolution
In 1955, at just 19 years old, Mustapha Tchaker joined the National Liberation Army (ALN), throwing himself into Algeria's armed struggle against French colonial rule. His leadership qualities quickly became apparent.
Military Service
Mustapha rose to serve as an officer responsible for the second sector in Wilaya IV — the military district that covered the Algiers region, including Blida and the surrounding Atlas mountains. Wilaya IV was one of the most active and strategically important zones of the revolution.
He fought courageously against colonial forces until his death in 1959, aged just 23.
Legacy
In recognition of his courage and sacrifice, the main football stadium of Blida — the [[Mustapha Tchaker Stadium]]— was named in his honor. It serves as a daily reminder to the people of Blida of the young lives given for Algeria's independence.
