
Allami Ratiba — Fedayee Fighter and Martyr of Blida
Allami Ratiba was born in Blida on 19 April 1938. She joined the National Liberation Army in 1956 under the name 'Najiya' and was martyred in 1959 during a battle near Médéa at just twenty years old.

Allami Ratiba was born on 19 April 1938 in Blida to M'hamed and Djeddaoui Aïcha. She completed her primary education at Orange School in the Bab El Khouikha neighborhood.
Revolutionary Commitment
From a young age, Ratiba's patriotic convictions led her into the independence struggle. She became a fedayee — carrying out resistance operations as part of the urban guerrilla network. Among her operations was one in Mouzaïa that eliminated a colonial policeman.
Joining the ALN
In 1956, she formally joined the National Liberation Army (ALN), operating under the name "Najiya" — a name meaning "the saved" or "the victorious." She fought in the Blida region, contributing to one of the most active military districts of the revolution.
Martyrdom
In 1959, during a battle against colonial forces in Chenbelane, El Ammaria, near Médéa, Allami Ratiba was martyred at just twenty years of age.
Legacy
Allami Ratiba stands among the women of Blida who proved that the struggle for independence belonged to everyone. Young, brave, and unwavering, she gave her life so that Algeria could live free. She is honored in the memory of her city and her nation.
